Don Himmelman

In private practice since 1991, Don offers a wide range of therapeutic services. He continues to cultivate his life long interest in the asian healing and martial arts, enhancing his skills.
Clinical Therapist
Don has over 17 years experience working with addictions in private practice and as a Clinical Therapist with Addiction Prevention And Treatment Services (APTS) within the Capital Health Region of Nova Scotia. While at APTS, Don introduced mindfulness practices including chi gung, meditation and acupuncture. He chairs the APTS Acupuncture Committee.
Don sits on the APTS research team, co-hosted with Dalhousie University, studying anxiety and acudetox. Co-author of the Abstract "Experiencing NADA - The Role of Acupuncture in Addictions Treatment", presented at the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine 2007 Annual Conference.
NADA Trainer
Don is one of the most experienced trainers registered in Canada with the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA). A Registered Trainer since 1999, Don has facilitated numerous trainings in Canada and the U.S. He introduced acudetox into the APTS services of Nova Scotia, PEI and Manitoba. He is the recipient of two NADA awards: Vision and Leadership, 2004; Most Valuable Trainer, 2005.
Health Educator
Don teaches a variety of classes with professional and public groups including yoga, tai chi and massage.
